Today I am adding a quick-fire post to help people stay positive as we go into the depths of winter.
It is often at this time of year that moods can go awry - for all sorts of reasons including:
Being dragged down by the weather
Feeling the pressure of Christmas (expense and financial pressure, social pressures, and anxiety that comes with it)
Feeling generally run down as we approach the end of the year
Suffering from a lack of daylight hours
Being affected by the projection of others' anxieties and low moods
And many more...
But what can we do about it?
Answer - flip it on it's head!
Admittedly not easy for those in deep suffering but for those with general low mood or those like me, who are in remission and want to stay positive, here's some ideas for keeping that vibration high this winter!

Bibliotherapy
Now, I say this again and again to people and I'm sure they don't listen but:
Reading is the most important thing I do to maintain my own mental wellness and is the primary reason I'm still alive
Why people don't listen to me I'm not sure - perhaps because it sounds too simplistic, but honestly, reading is SO therapeutic.
This is especially true if you combine the material you are reading with the bibliotherapy aspect since you can double the effect by learning 'on the job'.
But, reading for pleasure by getting warm and comfortable, perhaps by lighting the fire and making a cup of Ovaltine (for caffeine cutters), hot chocolate for others, is SO comforting and healing.
I am currently reading for pleasure having poured my efforts into self-help, NLP and psychology all year, and I am absolutely loving getting lost in the involved story of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.
Bibliotherapy allows me to access the present moment - the thoughts halt and I'm in another world, disentangled from the stresses of the 'real world' and separated from time.
Please, please try reading this winter - it is a time for reflection and can be used to our advantage if only we let it!
Hunker down with a book, hibernate a little like an animal does, allow yourself to reflect positively - read, read, read!
“The relationship between people and nature must be one of interdependence, otherwise we risk overlooking something that Indigenous peoples have known all along: that we are nature and nature is us, and failing to see this simple truth is what has gotten us into this mess in the first place.”
Nature
The above quotation is so true that it is hardly worth me adding anything to it but:
Nature plays an essential role in keeping me well and increasing my positive vibration
Why?
Because nature is in itself holds a high frequency - this is what isn't really explained properly in the media - they will just say 'spend time in nature' without explaining why it really helps.
Nature is in a state of non-resistance.
It is not constrained by the ego as we are and it demonstrates and mirrors the facets of our own character which we would most like to adopt.
We can learn so much from the environment around us, if only we would open our eyes again!
The characteristics of nature that we would do well to emulate include:
Resilience
Determination
Regrowth
Regeneration
Harmony
Peace
Spend time in nature this winter - study it - embrace it - go out alone - feel the elements - connect spiritually - allow yourself time to reflect.
KISS stands for KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID - so go back to the basics - Nature, nature, nature!
Gratitude journal
Another thing that is instrumental in keeping me well is my writing.
Writing is also extremely therapeutic yet is another aspect of mental well-being which is completely overlooked!
I often feel as though I'm banging my head against a brick wall with all this information I pour out (I wouldn't actually do that because I now like my head too much), but I'm sure people dismiss this stuff I bang on about - particularly men who would probably laugh at the kind of suggestions I come up with!
That's ok because I would have laughed at this stuff before I 'awakened' too, but now I know how absolutely essential all of these elements are for continued mental wellness and spiritual growth.
Why is writing so beneficial?
It is the effort it takes to put pen to paper that strengthens the vibration of whatever it is that you are focused upon
Read that again - in fact, read this whole post again as it's all so important!
Bearing this in mind, it would do us so much good to write down our positive intentions and focus on those things that we are grateful for.
Why?
Because the state of appreciation is an exact vibrational match to the vibration of 'source energy' or unconditional love. Attuning to this frequency will instigate a wave of constant positivity which will carry you through the whole day
So now I need to demonstrate the gratitude journal for myself by writing a list of the things I'm focusing on and displaying a positive appreciation for.
Remember that I now live a very stripped back existence so this may sound simplistic but it really is the small things that give the greatest pleasure.
Here goes:
I am grateful for the air in my lungs which keeps me alive
I am grateful to have a warm bed to sleep in
I am grateful to have a choice of things to eat
I am grateful for the sun that comes up every morning
I am grateful for my fully functioning body
I am grateful for the select friends and family who increase my vibration
I am grateful for the beauty and teachings of nature
I am grateful for rain which provides and keeps us alive
I am grateful for my amazing bubble bath each night
I am grateful to the incredible authors who wrote the novels I enjoy reading
I appreciate everything I have in my life and am open to receiving more!
Life is the gift that keeps on giving - treasure it - make the most of each day - carpe diem for those who are well enough and for those who are in suffering - getting through the day is enough for now but keep on seeking the light as it will come again eventually!
Keep trying, keep persisting - the gateway to awakening is suffering so never, never, never give up!
Thanks for reading,
Speak to you soon,
TR
